Name Selection
Baby Name
Selection
A name is the first thing a child carries into the world. Chosen thoughtfully, it adds a layer of support to the life that follows.
The Art of Naming
More Than a Name
In Chinese tradition, a name carries energy. The characters chosen — and their stroke count, sound, and meaning — interact with the child’s Bazi chart in ways that can either complement or conflict with their natural energy.
Master Lo’s baby name selection service identifies names — both Chinese and English — that align harmoniously with the child’s Four Pillars chart. The goal is to choose a name that fills in what the chart lacks, and builds on what it already has.
This is not about finding lucky numbers or trendy names. It is a considered process guided by the same classical principles that underpin all of Master Lo’s work.
Chinese Name
Master Lo selects Chinese characters based on stroke count, element correspondence, and tonal harmony with the surname — all cross-referenced with the child’s Bazi chart.
English Name
English names are assessed based on their phonetic energy and numerological value — ensuring the full name, when used together, carries a supportive quality for the child.
What to Prepare
The child’s date and time of birth, your family surname (Chinese and romanised), and any meaningful characters or sounds you would like incorporated if possible. Master Lo will do his best to honour your preferences within what the chart allows.
Give Your Child the Best Start
A name chosen with care is something your child will carry for a lifetime. Master Lo approaches this service with the same thoughtfulness he brings to everything else.
Common Questions
Baby Name Selection — FAQ
Yes. Master Lo provides analysis for both Chinese names (using stroke count numerology and the five elements) and English names (assessed for phonetic and energetic resonance with the child’s Bazi chart). Many Singapore families use both, and Master Lo ensures both names complement each other and support the child’s chart.
Your child’s exact date and time of birth, and the family surname. If you have name candidates already in mind, provide those and Master Lo will assess them against the birth chart. If you would like Master Lo to suggest names, he will do so based on what elements are needed to support and balance the chart.
Yes — this is sometimes called a name audit. Master Lo will assess the existing name against the child’s Bazi chart and advise whether it is supportive, neutral, or conflicting. If the name creates tension with the chart, he can suggest adjustments or an alternative that is closer to the existing name for minimal disruption to family and documents.
There is some overlap in method — Chinese name selection uses stroke count, which is a form of numerology. But Master Lo’s assessment goes further: the name is evaluated specifically in the context of the child’s Bazi chart. A name that is considered excellent in general may not be the best fit for a particular chart. The assessment is always personalised, not formulaic.
